Jeovana Ibarra

Jeovana Ibarra is an alumna of Horizon Science Academy Toledo, Class of 2013. Currently, Jeovana is a sophomore at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania majoring in Computer Networking in Cyber Security Concentration.

Briefly describe your career path.
I am currently a sophomore at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. I am pursuing a major in Computer Networking in Cyber Security Concentration. I am hoping to finish my program with an Associate degree in 2018. This will allow me to work as an entry-level network security technician and engineer or computer support technician.

What are you passionate about in your work/school?
Technology is something I have been passionate about for as long as I can remember. It was difficult deciding on what I wanted to study. Technology has never failed to amaze me and fortunately I am in the generation where I am able to observe the growth of it and the impact it has on the world. For me, the most attractive aspect of technology is problem-solving because it's something that could be essential.  I'm excited to know that being involved in technology allows me to take my career in any direction.

Where is your career headed?
Once I finish my program I am willing to go wherever my career takes me. There are many thing that can be achieved by having some knowledge about technology. I hope that I can make a big impact on the world doing what I am good at.

How has your Concept Schools (CMSA) experience helped shape your success?
Concept schools helped shaped me in many ways. I was involved in almost every club because I wanted to challenge myself. It helped me build leadership skills even though sometimes I didn't want to step out of my comfort zone. Overall, it was a great experience and I will never forget my years there.

How are you a game changer? Or, how are you making a positive impact in your community?
I try to use my skills to help people in any way I possibly can.  I hope that as I gain more knowledge in school I’ll be able to help even more people.

Your favorite Concept Schools memory?
My favorite Concept Schools memory was when Pearline Young, Hayley Pettaway, and I were leaders of a group called Sister-Sister we always had a crowd of women who would share their brilliant ideas about the world.

What is your advice for current Concept Students?
My advice to any concept student is to stay focused, that means doing your homework and working hard, and follow your dreams because you can pursue anything you set your mind to.
