Support My Dream of a Life Time

$20.00 of $6300.00

The Story

Timyra Askew, a Concept Alumnus, seeks the means to visit Zambia, Africa, in order to serve others and learn more about health services. With your support, the $6,300 she needs to travel are within reach. Please donate today.

I am a Senior at Hiram College. I am currently majoring in Integrative Exercise Science with a focus of Occupational Therapy. Recently, I was presented with a “once in a lifetime” opportunity for this upcoming Fall Semester, studying abroad in Zambia, Africa.  The focus of this study abroad trip will include a closer examination of health services through the lenses of environmental factors, public policy, traditional culture, psycho-social influences, education and economics. While in Africa I will have the opportunity to spend my time volunteering at a local school, visiting orphanages, a general hospital, and local clinics.  This exploration will provide me with a lifetime of experiences and memories, while also advancing my knowledge in my field of study.

As you can imagine, a trip like this will be quite expensive.  I must raise the estimated cost of $6,300 by October 1, 2017 in order to make this dream a reality.  This estimate includes round-trip airfare from Cleveland, group ground transportation, accommodations, group field trip expenses and group admissions to organized activities. Hence, I would like to ask you to make a financial donation to help me in my endeavors. By donating, you are supporting and aiding in my financial ability to pursue a dream of a life time. A donation of any amount will help. Thank you for your support and contributions.
