Concept Alumni Will Never Forget: Reflections on September 11

On the fourteenth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, Concept alumni, who were all young children on that day, wrote in with the following thoughtful reflections:

  • We will never forget and will always be united. When the worst happened, we banded together and stood strong. On that terrible day, a nation became a neighborhood, all Americans became New Yorkers. Together we remember.

    Miss Michelle Wintrich
    HSA Cleveland Class of 2003

  • Terrorism knows no religion. We must all unite as one to stop the spread of this infectious disease. God bless the heroes that fought to save our great nation.
    God bless,

    Dennis Koroma, SPN
    HSA Columbus Class of 2011

  • Peace and positivity starts from within YOU!
Change your mindset to a positive one.
Uplift one another and stop putting others down.

    Pearline Young
    HSA Toledo Class of 2013

  • Love your neighbor as yourself. If we let love reign among us, there will be no room to hate and terrorize one another. So therefore, Let Love Reign (LLR).

    Damilola Oyedokun
    CMSA Class of 2014

  • My heart goes out to all the people who lost loved ones on 9/11. They will forever be remembered.

    HSA Cincinnati Class of 2014

  • Martin Luther King once said, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
On this day it is imperative to honor those that lost their lives to hate, with love, and to bring light to the darkness that consumed their innocent souls, for only the living have the power to remember the deceased.
On this day it is imperative that we as a country never forget the events of that awful day, and never forget that it is only together that can we grow stronger.
On this day it is imperative that we also honor the living everyday that they are close to us. The families and friends of those that were unfairly sacrificed will now have to honor them solely through spirit. However, to those that still have their families and friends with them, a hug or a kiss, a pat on the head or a cheek's caress, will mean more than ever.

For those that lost their lives; for those that witnessed it; for those that felt the strongest hit; for those that can honor it
    A prayer for all.
    Amen.
    Sincerely,

    Michelle Lopez
