Jakob Nagl

Jakob Nagl is an alumnus of Gateway Science Academy High School (GSA), Class of 2016. Jakob graduated on May 24 and will be taking giant steps into his future career as a CAN alumnus. Here is Adam's responses on his experience at GSA and future goals.

What was the most significant educational aspect of your senior year? Why?
The most significant educational aspect of my senior year was getting accepted into college.
 
If there were one thing you could change about the 12th grade, what would it be?
If there were one thing I could change about 12th grade it would be having more class options.
 
Which of the last four years was the most challenging?
My senior year was the most challenging.
 
What educational opportunities do you think should be included that were not available in your final year?
Home Economics and a Statistics class should be available in your final year.
 
To what extent do you feel the school prepared you to meet the challenges of life beyond high school?
High school prepared me to get a good job, have basic skills, and take opportunities.
 
In what subject areas do you feel best prepared? Least prepared?
I was best prepared in English and least prepared in Calculus.
 
What is a highlight of your high school experience? Is there something that will stand out, something that you will always remember?
The highlight of my high school experience is visiting UMSL. I will always remember having to write my senior thesis.
 
Is there a project, paper, lab, etc. that you were especially proud of when you completed it?
The senior thesis is a paper that I was proud of when I completed it.

What is your overall evaluation of your high school experience?
My overall high school experience has been good. It was not like the experience in movies. I knew everyone in high school.
 
If you could change your high school experience, what changes would you make?
If I could change my high school experience I would join more sports and clubs.
 
What are your future plans: college, major, career?
In the future I plan on attending UMSL and majoring in Computer Technology.
 
What school activities are you involved in: which are the most important; to which you have contributed most?
I am involved in baseball and I am the boys’ soccer manager.
 
What kinds of activities would you like to pursue in college?
In college I would like to join the Greek life and get involved in sports.
 
What would you do if you don’t attend college next year?
If I do not attend college next year I would try to get a place of my own and search for a better job.
 
Do you have a personal hero? This can be anyone, not necessarily someone famous.
My dad is my personal hero.
 
What are your best friend's strengths and weaknesses?
My best friend has a strong personality; he is funny and smart.
 
How has your Concept Schools experience helped shape your success?
My Concept School experience has helped shape my success by giving me more opportunities such as more career opportunities and basic skills for the outside world.
