Bryan Butte

Bryan Butte is an Alumnus of Horizon Science Academy Columbus High School, Class of 2009. Bryan graduated from Shawnee State University majoring in graphic design, and currently, he is a graphic designer at Columbus State Community College.

Briefly, describe your career path.
My end goal is to teach what I have learned to the next generation of graphic design and print production majors.

What are you passionate about in your work/school?
I'm passionate about consistent brand identity and accurate print production. I want the company I represent to be recognized by the graphic design. Brand recognition is essential for the community to relate an event or program to the school (CSCC).

Where is your career headed?
I will continue down the color print production path until I feel the time is right for me to teach others of my knowledge.

How has your Concept Schools experience helped shape your success?
The introduction to web design and flash media actually gave me the idea to major in Web Design and Interactive Media. That class was short, but when I was deciding my major at Shawnee State University, I remembered how interesting it was to see a text-based language turn into a visual display of art.

How are you a game changer? Or, how are you making a positive impact in your community?
I'm a game changer because I question methods that are currently in place. I'm willing to look outside of the box in order to bring new techniques and new ways of doing things. I believe that the more knowledge I can bring to the table, the easier it will be to reach out to the community and get them to enroll in college.
What is the most amazing or interesting thing that’s happened to you since graduating?
The most amazing thing that has happened to me was my engagement. I was so happy when the time finally came to ask my fiancé to marry me. The excitement was almost too much to contain. The best part about it was that she was sick with a 101 degree fever and it was raining in December, but... if it wasn't for that, it just wouldn't be our luck! It was fun, the evening turned out great, and we were able to spend it together with some of our closest friends.

Your favorite Concept Schools memory?
My favorite memory was during a paintball trip. One of my friends forgot to put the barrel cover on and shot our English teacher in the butt. We laughed, but she ended up shooting him in the foot with a paintball.

How do you support and participate in the Concept Alumni?
I plan to support and help by informing others of the Concept Schools. If it wasn't for HSA, I wouldn't be where I am today. I am extremely grateful for the guidance of each teacher who has guided me along my path.
