Briefly describe your career path.
|
I joined the Ohio Army National Guard during my senior year at Horizon. It opened the door to many
possibilities for me. In my 3 years with the National Guard, I attended Columbus State and DeVry
University. In 2006, before finishing my degree, I chose to go active in the US Army and travel. While
active in the army, supported 2 tours to Afghanistan. One as a logistics coordinator and the other as the
leader of a riot control platoon. These titles may mean very little to most of the people reading this but
the experiences and the knowledge gained from my time in these roles has proven to be invaluable.
I separated from the army in 2009 and spent the next 2 years finishing my degree in Business
Administration. Afterward, I became the Area Marketing Manager and Lead tax Trainer for Liberty Tax
Services. I successfully operated separate territories in the state of Maryland until just last month when I
decided to move back to Columbus, OH, where I am working with our current Columbus Alumni
Director, Valerie Anderson, to connect with and expand the reach our alumni network.

What are you passionate about in your work/school?
|
I'm most passionate about working with past and future alumni. Building a network that will best serve
our future alumni as they step out into the world. Our alumni have great stories to tell. Stories that
future generations can learn lots from. But without a platform from which to tell the story how will it be
heard? Creating that platform is my passion.

Where is your career headed?
|
The end goal has always been franchise acquisition. I have been working with an amazing group of like-
minded peers and mentors that have prepared me to take this step in the very near future.
|
How has your Concept Schools experience helped shape your success?
|
Horizon was a cultural melting pot that really opened my eyes to the world. Exposure to so many
languages, cultures, and traditions equipped me with knowledge and understanding to navigate the
adult world better than many of my peers. Horizon taught me the skills to be an active listener and an
effective communicator despite language barriers.
