After graduating HSA Cleveland in 2003 I went on to Cleveland State University and received my B.S. in Special Education Mild/Moderate. I began teaching Special Education K-5 at HSA Cleveland Middle. I taught there for three years. In 2015, I was offered a position at HSA McKinley Park in Chicago. Currently at HSA McKinley Park I am teaching Special Education 4th-6th.
Where is your career headed?:
I am working towards earning my master’s in Early Childhood Intervention and would like to obtain my doctorate in Urban Education.
How has your Concept Schools experience helped shape your success?:
I am from the first graduating class of HSA Cleveland High School. My academic experience was deeply rewarding, and that was, in large part, due to the dedicated, supportive, and passionate teachers at HSA. I am an educator because of those teachers and my love for children. I want to inspire and motivate my students just as my teachers have done for me.
What are you passionate about in your work/school?:
I absolutely love and enjoy teaching Special Education at HSA. I get work at a school that I love and teach amazing students. I want my students to learn beyond the textbooks and turn their dreams into reality. This year I have incorporated travel into my classroom, sharing photos, postcards, and souvenirs from trips I have taken. I want to encourage them to see the world, take chances, and set their sights high!
