Briefly, describe your career path.
I am an English major and biology minor, pre-med focus at the University of Chicago.
What are you passionate about in your work/school?
I am really passionate about community involvement. I love volunteering through student-run
organizations on campus, and this past summer I interned for a nonprofit organization through which I
was able to do some incredible community-based research alongside bright and intelligent high
schoolers from the South Side.
Where is your career headed?
I plan to attend the University of Cincinnati for graduate school through which I will gain my doctorate
as a pediatric surgeon.
How has your Concept Schools experience helped shape your success?
Going to a Concept School is definitely a major factor to me being where I am today. All my teachers and
administrators were so supportive and encouraging. They put a lot of time and effort into my aspirations
and goals, and they always made themselves available to me.
How are you a game changer?
As mentioned, I participated in an internship this summer. But other than that, I am also an active
member of a student-run organization called Southside Scribblers. We go to local elementary schools
and teach 3-5th graders reading and writing skills. I also work at the University of Chicago emergency
hospital. I am a researcher for a new drug that helps people with severe heart failure and has been
proven to also assist in prolonging their lives.
